Overview

The Cisco SPA112 2-port analog telephone adapter (ATA) device is supported in the Sky phone system for analog phones and conference phones.

NOTE: Although RingCentral does not recommend or support the use of ATA devices for analog faxing, we acknowledge that the Cisco SPA112 is designed for use with fax machines and may be compatible with our phone system.

The Cisco SPA112 ATA provides high-quality VoIP service including a comprehensive feature set through a broadband Internet connection. This phone adapter is simple to install and use, and it works over an IP network to connect analog phones to a VoIP service provider. This product also provides support for additional LAN connections. This product supports 802.3 MAC Address and 802.1p VLAN tagging.

This phone adapter includes two standard telephone ports to connect existing analog phones to a VoIP service provider. Each phone line can be configured independently. Users can protect and extend their investment in their existing analog telephones and conference speakerphones as well as control their migration to IP voice with an extremely affordable, reliable solution. Compact in design and compatible with international voice and data standards, the Cisco SPA112 2-port phone adapter can be used with residential, home-office, and small business VoIP service offerings, including full-featured hosted and other IP PBX environments.

Upgrading Firmware and Performing Configuration

Use the following instructions to upgrade firmware and perform basic configuration:

  1. Plug in the power cable to the power jack and connect the ATA to a dhcp-enabled network by plugging a patch cable into the Internet jack. Wait until the power light displays a steady green, which indicates the ATA has acquired an IP address.
  2. Plug an analog phone into the PHONE 1 jack and do the following:
    • Pick up the handset.
    • Dial **** to access the IVR
    • Dial 110# and listen for the IP address.
    • Browse to the IP address retrieved in the step above (using an Internet Explorer or Chrome browser).
  3. Take note of the firmware version displayed on the left side of the screen. If it is NOT version 1.3.2(014), follow steps 4 and 5 below. If the firmware IS version 1.3.2(014), skip to step 6
  4. Log in as an administrator using the following credentials:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: admin
    NOTE: Alternative password could be !m5net!
  5. Go to the Administration tab and click Firmware Upgrade on the left side of the screen.
    • Click Choose File, then select SPA112_SPA122_1.3.2_014.bin and click Open.
    • Click Upgrade and wait up to 5 minutes for the firmware upgrade to complete.
  6. Log in as an administrator using the credentials shown in step 4 above.
  7. Go to the Administration tab and click Config Management and Restore Configuration on the left side of the screen.
    • Click Choose File, then select SPA112_CONFIG.cfg and click Open.
      If this is for a fax machine, select SPA112_CONFIG_FAX.cfg.
    • Click Restore and wait up to 5 minutes for the configuration to be restored.
      *The IP address may change when the configuration is restored.

Assigning Profiles to the ATA

  1. Pick up the handset.
  2. Dial **** to access the IVR, then dial 110# and listen for the IP address.
  3. Browse to the IP address retrieved in step 2 above using an Internet Explorer or Chrome browser.
  4. Log in as an administrator using the following credentials:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: !m5net!
  5. Under Quick Setup, enter the cluster IP followed by :15061 under Proxy.
  6. Enter the phone number in the User ID field and enter the profile password in the Password field.
    • The SPA112 supports 2 lines. Each line can be used by a different profile.
  7. Click Submit. When the LED for each line lights up steady green, the profile is registered to the server.
  8. Test by making an inbound and an outbound call.
  9. Manually assigning a VLAN ID.
  10. Select the Network Setup tab, click Advanced Settings and then click VLAN.
    • Select the Enabled radio button.
    • Enter the VLAN ID # in the VLAN ID field.
