Information

NOTE: This article is applicable to Sky customers only. If you are a MiCloud customer, see the Analog Telephone Adapters section of the MiCloud Supported Devices article or the Analog Telephone Adapters article.

Compared to VoIP phones, which connect to a packet switch network, analog phones and devices connect to the public switched telephone network (PSTN). Most analog phones and devices are connected to POTS lines. Sky does not support analog phones or devices, though we do support several ATA devices to which analog devices can be connected.

Although either an analog profile or a managed profile can be used with analog phones and devices, analog profiles are recommended because of the lower monthly cost. For more information about the various types of phone profiles available in the  Sky phone system, see the Phone Profile Types article.

Sky recommends using the Cisco SPA 112 ATA device as a solution for the following:

NOTE: Although Sky does not recommend or support the use of ATA devices for analog faxing, we acknowledge that the Cisco SPA 112 ATA device is designed for use with fax machines and may be compatible with our phone system.

Sky recommends using the Grandstream HT503 ATA device as a solution for the following:

NOTE: Not all overhead paging systems and door buzzer systems are compatible with the Grandstream HT503. Be sure to discuss with your IT partner or consultant to learn more information about device compatibility.

Sky does NOT recommend or support the use of any ATA device as a solution for the following systems and devices (we recommend the use of POTS lines):

  • Analog Faxing - See the Sky Fax article for an alternative to traditional faxing.
  • Credit Card Machines
  • Security/Alarm Systems
  • Elevator Lines
