Information

You can change your phone (and voicemail) PIN and your MiCloud Account Portal password from the Account Portal.

For information about changing your phone PIN from your phone, see the Setting Your Password section of the Managing Mailbox Options article.

For Users and Authorized Contacts, to reset your own portal user password to gain access to the Account Portal, see the following article: Recover or Reset Your User Password.

NOTE: For information about changing your Client password, refer to the Client User Guide.

If you are a Decision Maker or Phone Manager, you can reset the phone PIN for a user that has a profile assigned. You can also unlock a user’s phone PIN.

Resetting a Phone PIN

A phone PIN must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be 4-16 digits in length; numbers only
  • Must not contain repeating digits (such as 1111, 2222, etc.)
  • Must not match any part of the user’s phone number
  • Must not contain sequential numbers (such as 1234, 3456, etc.)

NOTE: Your phone PIN expires 1 year after it was last changed. When it expires, you are prompted to change it.

To reset a phone PIN from the Account Portal:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • (Authorized Contacts only) To reset a phone PIN for another user, do the following:
      1. On the Phone System menu, click Users.
      2. Right-click in the row that contains the user you want to reset the phone PIN for, and then click Reset Password.
      3. In the dialog box that appears, click Reset Phone PIN.
        The Reset Phone PIN dialog box appears.
    • To change your own phone PIN, do the following:
      1. On the Home menu, under Settings, click Phone Settings.
      2. On the Phone tab, under Privacy, click Change Phone PIN.
        The Change Phone PIN dialog box appears.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • In the New Phone PIN and Confirm Phone PIN fields, type a new phone PIN.
    • Select the Reset to default PIN check box to reset the password to the default 5-digit password assigned to all new phone users for your organization.
  3. (Optional) Under EMail Notification, do the following:
    1. Select the Yes, send email to check box to send an email notification of the change to the affected user.
    2. In the and box, type additional email addresses to send notifications to.
  4. Click OK to save the new password and send any requested notification emails.

Resetting a MiCloud Account Portal Password

An Account Portal password must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be 8-16 characters in length
  • Must include at least 1 English alpha character and 1 numeric character
  • Must include at least 1 of the following special characters: ! # $ % - _ = + < >
  • Must not contain any spaces

NOTE: Your Account Portal password expires 90 days after it was last changed. When it expires, you are prompted to change it.

To reset your own Account Portal password:

  1. On the Home menu, under Settings, click Personal Information.
  2. On the Contact tab, under RingCentral Log In, click Change Password.
    The Change Password window appears.
  3. Enter your current password in the Enter current password field.
  4. Enter your new password in the Enter new password and Confirm new password fields.
  5. Click Next to save your new password.
    You will be prompted to sign in to the Account Portal again.

(Authorized Contacts only) To reset another user's Account Portal password:

  1. On the Phone System menu, click Users.
  2. Right-click in the row that contains the user you want to reset the portal password for, and then click Reset Password.
  3. In the dialog box that appears, click Reset User Password.
    The Reset User Password dialog box appears.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • In the New Password and Confirm Password fields, type a new password.
    • Click Randomize to create a new, random password.
  5. (Optional) Under EMail Notification, do the following:
    1. Select the Yes, send email to check box to send an email notification of the change to the affected user.
    2. In the and box, type additional email addresses to send notifications to.
  6. Click OK to save the new password and send any requested notification emails.

Unlocking a Password

If a user attempts to log in to voicemail, a phone, the Account Portal, or the Client with an invalid password three times, the profile is locked.

The profile is automatically unlocked after 10 minutes, and the user can again log in. If a user needs to log in before the 10 minute waiting period expires, a Decision Maker or Phone Manager can unlock the profile from the Users page of the Account Portal.

To unlock a password:

  1. On the Phone System menu, click Users.
  2. Right-click the row that contains the user you want to unlock the password for, and then click Unlock.
