You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of your emergency location for your MiCloud profile. An accurate emergency location for your profile is required to ensure that emergency calls are routed to the correct emergency response site and that your correct physical location is provided to emergency services whenever you dial an emergency number.
You can update your emergency location from the Emergency Location tab on the Phone Settings page in the Account Portal.
If you are a Decision Maker or a Phone Manager, you can also manage personal emergency locations for other users on your account. For information about managing emergency registration for your account, see Emergency Registration (MiCloud).
You have the option to set your emergency location to a company address or a personal address. Personal addresses are often used for employees who work remotely, away from an office location in the organization. You can add multiple emergency locations and select the location to use, depending on your current location.
NOTES:
- Personal addresses as emergency locations are only available for users who have an assigned phone number. Personal emergency addresses cannot be configured for extension-only profiles or UK accounts.
- After you change your emergency location address from the default location, the address listed on the Emergency Location tab of your Phone Settings page will always display Personal Registration above the address. This indicates that the address has been changed from the original default location (even if the address is later changed back to a company address).
WARNING: When a user takes a phone off-net, away from the pre-configured emergency Outbound Caller ID, it is the user’s responsibility to update his or her emergency location in the Account Portal.
Dialing an Emergency Number from Your IP Phone
You can reach emergency services from your IP phone by dialing your outbound dial digit and then the emergency number.
- If you have 9 as an outbound dial digit, dialing just the emergency number or 9 + the emergency number will reach emergency services.
- All other outbound dial digits are required prior to dialing the emergency number. Examples: 8 + emergency number, 7 + emergency number, etc.
NOTE: Emergency calling service will work even if the phone has outbound dialing disabled.
