As a MiCloud Administrator, you can set the emergency location for each user on your account. Users can also set their own personal emergency address using the Account Console. See Managing Your Personal Emergency Address for more information.

An accurate emergency location for each MiCloud user is required to ensure that emergency calls are routed to the correct emergency response site and that the user's correct physical location is provided to emergency services whenever they dial an emergency number.

The emergency location for a user can be set to a company location or to a personal address. Personal addresses are often used for employees who work remotely, away from an office location in the organization.

As a MiCloud Administrator, you can change the emergency address for users in your organization.

Using a Company Location as the Emergency Location

To change the emergency location to any location within your organization:

  1. On the Account Console menu, click Users & Locations and then click Users.
  2. From the list of existing users, select the name of the user whose emergency location you want to change and click Manage.
  3. In the Phone Service section of the edit user panel, click the drop-down menu under Emergency Address.
  4. Under Company Locations, select an emergency address from the list to assign to the user.
    NOTE: For information about adding a new location to your account, see the Adding a New Location article.
  5. Click Update User to save the changes and update the emergency location.

Using a Personal Address as the Emergency Location

To change the emergency location to a new or existing personal address:

NOTE: Personal addresses are available as emergency locations only for users who have an assigned phone number. Personal emergency addresses cannot be configured for extension-only profiles or UK accounts.

  1. On the Account Console menu, click Users & Locations and then click Users.
  2. From the list of existing users, select the name of the user whose emergency location you want to change and click Manage.
  3. In the Phone Service section of the edit user panel, click the drop-down menu under Emergency Address.
  4. Under Personal Addresses, do either of the following:
    • Select an existing personal address from the list to assign to the user.
    • To add a new personal address, click New Personal Address. The Register New Personal Address dialog box is displayed.
      1. Do either of the following:
        • Select the Start with a saved address option if you want to enter an address based on an existing address in the account. Select the saved address from the drop-down menu under Start with a saved address.
        • Select the Enter a new address option if you want to enter a new personal address.
      2. Under the Address section, enter or make changes to the address as needed.
      3. Click Register.
      4. If you entered an address that is not valid, the system displays a valid address based on your entry.
        • Click Use Suggested if you want to use the suggested address as the personal address.
        • Click Edit Address if you want to go back and edit your entry.
  5. Click Update User to save the changes and update the emergency location.
