FAQs
Q: Do the wireless headsets require any additional accessories?
A: If you want to answer and end calls from a location in your office that is away from your desk phone, when using a Cisco 7900-series phone with a Plantronics CS520 or CS540 wireless headset, a Plantronics HL10 automatic handset lifter is required. When these CS520 and CS540 wireless headsets are used with IP 400-series phones, a handset lifter is not required to do this.
Q: Does the Chameleon 2022 wired headset require any additional accessories?
A: When the Chameleon 2022 wired headset is used, a "quick disconnect" adapter cable is included to connect the headset to the desk phone. When ordering this headset, be sure to specify the brand of desk phone being used to receive the correct adapter cable.
Q: Which type of handset lifter do you recommend so I can answer and end calls from a wireless headset using a Cisco phone?
A: If you are using a Plantronics CS520 or CS540 wireless headset with a Cisco 7900-series phone, a Plantronics HL10 automatic handset lifter is required. If you are using other types of wireless headsets, the handset lifter depends on the brand, so check with the manufacturer of your headset for a compatible lifter. Handset lifters are also available from various online electronics resellers.
Q: How do I enable my headset to automatically activate when I place or receive calls using my IP 400-series phone?
A: Your IP 400-series phone’s speaker is the default device that is activated when your phone is “off-hook” (you hear a dial tone) or when you press the “Answer” soft key. To make your headset the default “off-hook” device, press the Options soft key and use the navigation key pad to scroll to and highlight the "Auto off-hook" option, then press the Edit soft key. Use the navigation key pad to highlight Headset and press the OK soft key (if displayed). Use the navigation key pad to scroll to and highlight the "Headset type" option, use the navigation key pad to highlight Wired or Wireless, and press the OK soft key (if displayed).
Q: Which type of headset should I use with my softphone?
A: The headset used with a softphone should be compatible with the softphone application and computer on which it is installed. Check with the company associated with your softphone application for compatible headsets. If you are using the Sky Softphone, see the Supported Headsets section of the Sky Softphone article.
