Sidecars, also known as button boxes, expand the number of line buttons available for use with a physical phone. A Cisco Unified IP Phone Expansion Module (Cisco "Sidecar") can be used to leverage additional shared line appearances on a supported Cisco phone, which has at least six line buttons. The illuminated buttons provide display line status, making the sidecar an ideal call coverage tool. Up to two sidecars can be added to the supported phone models. When adding a sidecar to a supported phone, make sure to order a foot stand kit for the model phone being used.
