NOTE: This article is applicable only to MiCloud Account Console users. It describes configuring programmable buttons in the MiCloud Account Portal. For information about configuring programmable buttons in MiCloud Account Console, see the Configuring Programmable Buttons article.
Programmable buttons function as shortcuts for operations that would normally require pressing two or three buttons to accomplish the same task.
As a MiCloud user, you can configure programmable buttons on your phone with the Dial Number (Speed Dial) function. If you have a Mitel 6930 or 6940 IP phone, you can also configure a programmable button for the Mobile Line feature. All other programmable button features must be configured by your MiCloud Administrator.
All custom buttons are configurable except for the button used for the first call appearance, which is permanently set to provide call appearance information (that is, the ringing indicator and call timer information for an incoming or active call). The placement of the first call appearance button varies by phone model; sometimes it's on the upper right, and sometimes it's on the upper left. You can configure labels for custom buttons you configure for speed dial.
To configure a programmable button:
- On the Account Portal Home menu, under Settings, click Phone Settings, and then click the Programmable Buttons tab.
- Click the subtab for the phone or button box for which you want to program buttons.
- For each button that you want to configure, do the following:
- Click the row for the button you want to configure.
- In the Function field, from the drop-down list select one of the following functions to associate with the button:
- Dial Number (Speed Dial) — Dial an extension or an external number.
- Mobile Line — Switch the call audio from your Bluetooth-paired mobile phone to your desktop 6930 or 6940 IP phone. This function is available if your mobile phone is synchronized with your desk phone through the Mobilelink feature.
- In the Long Label and Short Label fields, type a label to appear beside the button on the phone LED display to remind the user of the button’s function. (The Long Label is used on phone models that support more characters, and the Short Label is used when the Long Label is not available.)
- If you selected Dial Number (Speed Dial), enter the desired extension or external number.
- Click Save.
