Usage Without Services

This article provides information about the Usage Without Services report, which shows the call details associated with the outbound usage fees generated by the use of non-profile phone numbers in Sky accounts.

In some instances, outbound usage fees are applicable to phone numbers that are not associated with a billable phone profile type. Customers are responsible for the outbound usage fees associated with all non-profile phone numbers, which are charged at USD $0.05 per minute or CAD $0.05 per minute. Within the Sky phone system, non-profile numbers include "programming" numbers that are used to process calls through a company's call flow. A programming number is typically used as the "main line" number (where most inbound calls are received at an account location) and as a "trigger" number to process ring group calls for a location's auto attendant. For direct outbound calls from a programming number, and inbound calls to a programming number that are transferred to an external phone number, any usage fees incurred from these calls are charged to the customer's account. Note that there are no usage fees for calls to toll-free or fax numbers.

The Usage Without Services screen enables Decision Makers, Phone Managers, and Billing Contacts to view, search for, and optionally export a report showing the call details associated with the outbound usage fees generated by the use of non-profile phone numbers for their account.

View Usage Without Services Calls

To view a Usage Without Services report, an Authorized Contact for a Sky account  can do the following:

  1. Log in to Account Portal with business email address (username) and user password.
  2. Navigate to Organization > Usage > Usage Without Services.
  3. Select the desired start and end dates using the Date From and Date To calendar fields.
  4. Click View Report.
  5. The Usage Without Services report appears displaying the following data items for the selected range of dates:
    • Call Type - External Transfer or Direct Outbound Call.
    • Profile Name - Name associated with the non-profile phone number that generated outbound usage.
    • From Number - Phone number from which the call originated.
    • To Number - Phone number to which the call was placed.
    • Start Time - Start date and time for the outbound usage.
    • End Time - End date and time for the outbound usage.
    • Seconds - Actual length of the outbound usage in seconds.
    • Billable Minutes - For billing purposes, the length of the outbound usage is rounded up to the nearest minute.
    • Charge - The charge is equal to the Billable Minutes times the Rate.
    • Usage Region - Valid values are Local, Regional, Intrastate, Interstate, and International. These values are determined when monthly invoices are generated. This field is not populated for the current month, which has not yet been invoiced, but is populated for previous months that have been invoiced.
    • Rate - The per minute rate of the outbound usage.
  6. To view the right-most columns of data, you may need to scroll down to the bottom of the screen and drag the horizontal scroll bar to the right.
  7. To search for data, type search criteria in the empty input field on the toolbar and click Find to the right. When searching for multiple instances of search criteria, click Next (to the left of the save icon).
  8. To navigate through multiple pages of usage data, use the >, > |, <, and < | icons on the toolbar (to the left and right of the report page numbers).
  9. To export the data displayed on the screen, click the save icon and select the desired format to download a file to your computer.

Data Storage

The following data storage rules apply to Usage Without Services reports: 

  • Usage Without Services data that is older than 13 months may be archived. Note that a formal request via a Support Case is required to obtain the data.
  • Usage Without Services data that is older than 7 years is deleted from our servers.
