Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) is the IP address setting used to reboot a phone when the phone requests a download of its configuration file and firmware. The TFTP/Config Server article, which provides the IP addresses used for programming your phones, is organized by the instance (cluster) that is assigned to your organization.
To change the TFTP setting on the Cisco model 7940 and 7960 phones used in your Sky phone system, watch our short video or follow the instructions listed below.
- Press the Settings button on the phone.
- Press 3 on the keypad to select Network Configuration.
- Press 32 on the keypad to select Alternate TFTP.
- If option 32, Alternate TFTP, is set to No, go to step 5. If it is set to Yes, go to step b.
- Press * * # and then set to Yes. Do not press the Save soft key.
- Press 8 on the keypad to select TFTP Server 1.
If you are configuring a backup TFTP 2 server, press 41 on the keypad to select TFTP Server 2. - Press the Edit soft key.
If you do not see the Edit soft key, press * * #. - Type the TFTP address to equal the value of your desired instance (cluster).
Make sure to press * on the keypad OR press the period "." soft key to enter the periods that separate the numeric TFTP values. - Press the Validate soft key.
- Press the Save soft key.
Your phone will now reboot with the TFTP address you have entered.
