This article provides instructions for changing the "Config server" setting on the IP 400 series phones used in the Sky phone system. The "Config server" setting needs to be changed only when using a remote phone. The IP address required for your phone is determined by the instance that is assigned to your organization.
Authorized Contacts can view the instance for their account in the Account Details screen of the Account Portal. See the Account Facts section of our Account Details article for more information. If you are still not sure which instance is assigned to your account, please contact Support.
To change the Config Server IP address on IP480, IP480G, and IP485G model phones, perform the following instructions.
- Open the TFTP/Config Server article and find the instance assigned to your account.
- Disconnect power from your phone, and then reconnect.
- Watch the phone screen as the phone boots up.
- When the scree displays Press any key to enter admin options, press any number key.
- When prompted, enter the Admin password of 1234.
- Press the OK soft key.
- In the Config server 1 field, enter the TFTP/Config Server 1 address of the instance being utilized for your account.
- Use the * key on the dial pad of the phone to enter the periods that separate the numeric values in the TFTP/Config Server 1 address utilized by the instance for your account.
- Press the Back soft key, press the Back soft key again, then press the Apply soft key.
- The phone should restart using the updated Config server 1 address that you applied.
As an alternative, you can use the procedure below.
This is not the preferred method.
- Press the Mute button (microphone icon with a slash through it) to open the Admin options screen
- Use the phone's keypad to dial 4636 (INFO) and press the # key.
- Use the navigation keys to scroll to and highlight Services
- Press the Open soft key
- If necessary, use the navigation keypad to scroll to and highlight Config server.
- Press the Edit soft key.
- When prompted, enter the Admin password of 1234.
- Press the OK soft key.
- In the Config server 1 field, enter the TFTP/Config Server 1 address of the instance being utilized for your account.
- Use the * key on the dial pad of the phone to enter the periods that separate the numeric values in the TFTP/Config Server 1 address utilized by the instance for your account.
- Press the Back soft key, press the Back soft key again, then press the Apply soft key.
- The phone should restart using the updated Config server 1 address that you applied.
