Phone Number Transfer Requests (Sky)

  • NOTE: This article is applicable to Sky customers. If you are a MiCloud customer, see the Requesting Phone Number Transfers article for information about transferring (porting) phone numbers to RingCentral.

If you are an Authorized Contact for a Sky account, you can utilize the Account Portal to submit a request to transfer (port) phone numbers from other telecom service providers to your Sky account.

Viewing and Updating Existing Phone Number Transfer Requests

If you or another Authorized Contact for your Sky account has already created one or more Transfer Requests, you can view these requests and a status of each by doing the following:

  1. Log into Account Portal with username and user password.
  2. Navigate to Phone System > Phone Numbers
  3. Select the Requests tab.
    NOTE: To view only active requests, make sure the Only include active requests check box is selected. Otherwise, active, completed, and canceled requests are displayed.
  4. The following information is displayed on the Requests tab.
    • Request - The name and number associated with the Transfer Request
    • Status - The current status of the request
      NOTE: If the Status column displays "Action Required" or "Signature Required," click the associated Transfer Request link and look for the area of the request that needs attention and is displayed in red with a action required warning icon to the right. Take the necessary action(s) and re-process your request as needed.
    • Created - The date the request was created
    • Last Updated - The date the request was last updated
    • Numbers or Ranges - The lowest phone number included in the Transfer Request
    • Total Numbers - The total number of phone numbers included in the Transfer Request
    • Total Services - The total number of services associated with the Transfer Request
  5. To update an existing Transfer Request that is not yet completed or submitted, click the desired link in the Request column, go to step 7 in the Creating a New Phone Number Transfer Request topic below, and complete any of the steps that were not completed previously. If you need help, contact Support.

Creating a New Phone Number Transfer Request

You can create a transfer request for local and long-distance numbers or toll-free numbers.

  • You need a copy of a recent phone bill for the numbers you want to transfer. The phone bill must be from the previous billing cycle and can be no more than 30 days old.
  • If you need to transfer numbers from multiple carriers, you must complete a separate transfer request for each carrier.

After creating a transfer request, a form is generated that you must print, sign, and upload to submit it to RingCentral. For more information, see the Submitting a Transfer Request section of this article.

To create a new transfer request:

  1. Log into Account Portal with business email address (username) and user password.
  2. Navigate to Phone System > Phone Numbers.
  3. Select the Requests tab.
  4. Click Add on the toolbar.
    The Create a New Request dialog box appears.
  5. If you have locations in multiple countries, select a country in the Select the country where your services will be used and billed list.
  6. Select one of the following to open the Transfer Request page:
    • Domestic Numbers - to request a transfer of domestic local or long-distance numbers
    • Domestic Toll-Free - to request a transfer of domestic toll-free numbers
  7. In the Numbers section, do the following:
    1. In the Current Provider list, select the telecom provider that currently provides the numbers you want to transfer.
      NOTE: If the telecom provider does not appear in the list, select Other and then enter the provider name in the field that appears.
    2. Next to Add Numbers, do one of the following:
      • Select Single number or list to enter or paste the phone numbers you want to have transferred in the field below; separate each phone number with a comma.
        NOTE: You can enter up to 50 phone numbers at a time into this field to add to the transfer request; however, a total of 1000 phone numbers can be added to a single transfer request.
      • Select Range of numbers to add a range of phone numbers; enter the first number and the last number of the range in the fields below.
        NOTE: You can enter a range of up to 1000 phone numbers.
    3. Click Add, which adds the entered phone numbers to the Added Numbers field.
    4. To add additional numbers to the transfer request, repeat steps 6b-6c.
    5. To remove a number from the numbers to transfer list, select the number, and then click Remove.
    6. Click Next.
  8. In the Account Details section, do the following:
    1. In the Name on Account field, enter the name of your account as it appears in your current telecom service provider's system.
    2. In the Account Number field, enter the account number of your account with your current service provider.
    3. If a PIN or password is required to authorize changes on your account with your current service provider, enter the PIN or password in the Account PIN or Password field.
    4. Do one of the following next to Authorized Contact (for Current Provider):
      • If the person authorized to make changes to your current service provider account is already an Authorized Contact on your Sky account, select An authorized contact on this RingCentral account, and then select the person's name from the drop-down list.
      • If the person authorized to make changes to your current service provider account is not an Authorized Contact on your Sky account, select Someone else, and then enter the person's full name and email address in the corresponding fields.
    5. Click Next.
  9. (Toll-Free Numbers Only) In the Account Address section, do the following:
    1. In the Select a location address or enter a new address list, select the service address used for your current service provider if available.
    2. Update or enter new data in the Country, Address, City, State, and Zip fields.
      NOTE: The address provided here must exactly match the address on your current service provider invoice.
    3. Click Next.
  10. In the Recent Invoice section, do the following:
    1. Click Choose.
    2. In the Upload Recent Invoice File dialog box, click Browse.
    3. Navigate to and select the invoice file to upload, and then click Open.
      NOTE: Select the most recent invoice from your current service provider; the invoice must be no more than 30 days old.
    4. Click OK.
    5. The selected file is uploaded to your transfer request.
    6. Click Next.
  11. (Domestic Numbers Only) In the Caller ID section, do one of the following:
    • If you do not want to set an outbound caller ID for the transferred numbers, select Don't set a name and then click Next.
      If you choose this option, most recipients will see the city and state associated with the phone number.
    • If you do want to set an outbound caller ID for the transferred numbers, select Set a name, enter the desired name or number in the Caller ID Name Text field, and then click Next
  12. In the Directory Assistance section, do the following:
    1. Next to Directory Listing, select one of the following:
      • Add, update, or remove a listing - to make changes to the way your company is listed in the phone book and directory assistance for any of the transferred numbers.
      • Don't make any changes - if you do not need to make changes to the way your company is listed in the phone book and directory assistance for any of the transferred numbers.
    2. If you selected Add, update, or remove a listing, do the following:
      1. In the Listing Number list, select the number for which you want to make changes.
      2. Do one of the following:
        • Select the Add (or keep) a 411 directory assistance listing check box to add a new or change the existing directory assistance listing for the selected phone number.
        • Clear the Add (or keep) a 411 directory assistance listing check box to remove the selected number from directory assistance.
      3. Do one of the following:
        • Select the Publish (or keep published) in print directory check box to add a new or change the existing phone book listing for the selected phone number.
        • Clear the Publish (or keep published) in print directory check box to remove the selected number from the phone book.
      4. (Toll-Free Numbers Only) In the Listing Local Number list, select a local (non-toll free) number that matches the listed location.
      5. In the Listing Name & Address field, enter the name of your company as you want it to appear in the phone book and directory assistance.
      6. In the Listing Name & Address drop-down list, select the geographic location to associate with the selected phone number in the phone book and directory assistance.
      7. (Optional) In the Category field, enter the directory heading under which you want the listing to appear.
    3. Click Next.
  13. In the Billing Location section, do the following:
    1. In the Billing Location list, select the billing location to assign the transferred numbers to.
    2. Click Finish.

Your transfer request form is generated. You must print and sign the transfer request form and then upload the signed form to the Account Portal to complete your transfer request. See the following Submitting a Transfer Request topic below for further instructions.

Submitting a Transfer Request

After you have finished inputting information on the Transfer Request page and clicked Finish, your transfer request form is generated. You must print and sign the form and then upload the signed form in order to submit your transfer request to RingCentral.

  1. If you have navigated away from your transfer request in the Account Portal, do the following:
    1. On the Phone System menu, click Phone Numbers.
    2. Select the Requests tab.
    3. In the Request column, click the transfer request for which you need to submit a transfer request form.
      The Transfer Request page for the selected transfer request is displayed.
  2. Click Print & Sign (this option is only available after all transfer request information is complete).
    The transfer request form is displayed in the Print & Sign dialog box.
  3. Review the form to make sure that all information is accurate.
  4. Click Print, and then click Close to close the dialog box.
  5. Sign and date the printed form.
  6. Scan the signed form and save the scanned file to your computer.
  7. On the transfer request page in the Account Portal, click Upload.
  8. In the Upload & Submit dialog box, click Choose File.
  9. Navigate to and select the transfer form file, and then click Open. You may need to navigate back to Phone System > Phone Numbers and click the Requests tab.
  10. Click Submit to upload and submit your Transfer Request.

Modifying and Deleting a Transfer Request

If needed, you can make changes to or delete a transfer request, but only if the request has not already started processing. After a request has started processing, you must contact our Support team if you need to make any changes to the request.

  1. Log into Account Portal with business email address (username) and user password.
  2. Navigate to Phone System > Phone Numbers
  3. Select the Requests tab.
  4. In the Request column, click the transfer request for which you need to submit a transfer request form. The Transfer Request page for the selected transfer request is displayed.
  5. If the transfer request has already been submitted, click Modify.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • To update the request, make any necessary changes and then click Finish under Billing Location.
    • To delete the request, click Delete.

NOTE: If you modified an already submitted request, you need to print, sign, and upload the transfer request form again to resubmit the transfer request. See Submitting a Transfer Request for information about printing and uploading your transfer request form.

Remote Call Forwarding

After you submit a transfer request to port your existing phone numbers to RingCentral, if the estimated time period for completing the porting request is expected to last longer than desired, you can request Remote Call Forwarding (RCF) functionality. An RCF can be used to temporarily forward calls and voicemails placed to your existing phone numbers to temporary phone numbers in your new Sky phone system. To request an RCF, an Authorized Contact (Decision Maker or Phone Manager) for your organization can contact the Account Manager for your account or create a Support Case to communicate your request to our Support team.
