This application note discusses the use of data networking and customer firewall best practices in MiCloud for *only* those customers connecting via Internet. Network Administrators must consider a multitude of complex configuration designs and networking parameters when designing a small or large-scale local area network (LAN) with or without remotely connected sites over a wide-area-network (WAN). Essential tools for VoIP include the use of Virtual LANs (VLANs), Quality of Service (QoS) and firewall configurations to provide excellent voice quality over a “best effort” Internet connection. Please refer to your network equipment manufacturer’s documentation to apply the ideas and concepts presented in this document to your specific equipment and environment.
NOTE: Customers connecting via dedicated circuits (T1) or MPLS should consult with RingCentral for specifics related to this type of connection. The majority of the concepts discussed in this document also apply to an “on-net” customer with some slight modifications to the WAN configuration.
