Summary

NOTE: Beginning June 28, 2022, you must use version 10.0.5 or later of the Application Dialer utility. Older versions of this advanced application will no longer be supported and will not be able to authenticate via RingCentral’s secure authentication platform.

The Application Dialer utility, referred to as AppDialer, runs on Microsoft Windows and allows easy dialing of numbers from standard Windows Applications. To place a call, the user simply selects the text containing the phone number and either clicks the AppDialer tray icon or presses the AppDialer hotkey combination. Alternatively, AppDialer also provides a manual call dialog. When the manual call dialog window is open, users can enter numbers to dial directly into the dialog or they can select numbers from the other application by clicking the tray icon or pressing the hotkey to paste the number into the manual call dialog. AppDialer has been tested and works well with a number of standard Windows Applications including the various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. It has also been tested with a number of third-party applications.

Considerations

  • AppDialer now supports outbound caller ID override. However, there is a known issue in one narrow use case. This feature is currently not working if you are externally assigned with a cloud extension. In that configuration, the default caller ID will be sent regardless of the override configuration. If you are using an IP phone or the Client softphone, it will work as expected.
  • When selecting a number to dial, the format of the dialed number needs to include the "+" prior to it for outbound caller ID override to function. An example of this format is +1xxx-xxx-xxxx

Requirements

  • Windows OS only
  • Users should have Essentials, Premier, or Elite bundle types
